How We Begin
Our health, fitness, and nutrition consultation begins with your health history. This includes a series of tests performed at our studio, so we can create a customized plan just for you. The assessment provides us with a lot ofinsights on your current health status as we develop your personalized program.

In addition to discussing your health and fitness goals, we like to know what type of movement you’ve tried and enjoyed in the past and any past or present injuries we should be aware of.

We also keep in mind that, in general, we know you want to be challenged, but you don’t want to be overwhelmed and feel like you can’t keep up.  Our plan is all about gradual progression so that you can stick to it and keep consistent results.

Some of The Tests We Conduct

Posture Analysis
A client's posture provides information regarding the natural state of their muscle and tissues. Through postural analysis, it is possible to determine which areas of their body are under more strain than others, and which muscle groups are causing this strain. Poor posture can lead to back pain, headaches, foot complaints, shin splints, knee pain, and other chronic conditions.

Core Function & Strength Test
We begin by determining your level of fitness capability by having you perform a core function test which is comprised of a series of exercises that help evaluate your overall health and physical status. The tests are a starting point for designing an appropriate exercise program that is ideal for you.

Range of Motion & Movement Analysis
These tests will help us both determine your level of flexibility and gain a better understanding of how your muscles and joints are working so we can provide a safe and effective exercise plan.  We continue to test you as you become stronger and healthier.

Body Composition Test
While BMI is important, we don’t just place value on your weight and percentage of body fat because we know that this is not your entire health picture. Our approach is much more holistic in nature, and we also focus on increasing your strength and heart health.

With this said, The Body Composition Test determines how much of your body is and isn't fat. The non-fat part of your body is called lean tissue, which includes your muscle, water, bone, and organs. Lean tissue is known as metabolically active tissue, which is the tissue that burns calories all day. Weight alone is not a clear indicator of good health because it does not distinguish between pounds that come from body fat and those that come from lean body mass or muscle.

Nutritional & Lifestyle Assessment
You already know that weight loss and health optimization is not just about burning more calories than you consume. These tests provide an in-depth look at the factors influencing your health, such as your diet, exercise, temperament, coping skills, management style, stress tolerance, and risk for anxiety or depression.

It’s good to note that we not only provide nutritional guidance, but we will also educate you about all aspects of food including calories, fats, proteins, processed vs whole foods, hormonal impacts of starving yourself, strategies to combat stress/emotional eating, and the impact of lack of sleep on weight gain.
